“…when I was appointed an Australia Day Ambassador, I requested that I be posted in regional areas, outside of capital cities. Because it is my firm belief that the state of New South Wales extends beyond Sydney and it is not confined to the limits of Macquarie Street. Something I guess our elected leaders need to be reminded about every so often. I truly believe that it is regional and rural Australia that embody the true spirit of community and set the benchmark for defining the Australian character. I always believed that the heart of the country, is in the country.”
