I was invited by the US Consulate-General yesterday to take part in a roundtable discussion with political consultant Jim Loftus. Titled U.S. political campaigns from Mondale to Obama: An insider’s view, it was an interesting account of US campaigns. I was in the US during the (northern) summer of 2008 and witnessed several campaigns, and it was a rewarding experience to be in the ‘eye of the storm’ so to speak. Jim is a partner of Loftus Marquardt and is based in Europe, I hope to catch up with him when I return to Europe. Jim also spoke about the up coming mid-terms and the ‘Tea Party’ movement. He suggested Jonathan Raban’s article from The New York Review of Books as a good and open account of the movement.
