I totally agree with your three points. Especially the second one with regards to urban design and living spaces. This is so important in so called 'business districts'. I would add three more points: 1.Fix up all platforms not just those used by the TGV and the Eurostar. That way passengers using the other platforms don't feel like they're in the fourth world (the third world being the area around the station). 2. a café or two and some appartmentblocks would help: the municipality should stop building only new boring office blocks around the station. Yes it brings in money (something St-Gilles can use), and it may make the area nicer by day, but by night the neighborhood will become even more deserted and dangerous than it already is. and being a real Dutchy: 3. install some proper bicycle storage racks so people can actually leave their bike at the station (if one dares...).
